What is a Dehumidifier? Dehumidifiers are household appliances that help reduce the humidity levels in the air. There are primarily two types of humidifiers – desiccant and mechanical.

Compressor dehumidifiers are more economical than desiccants at high temperatures and high moisture levels. In general mechanical refrigeration systems are seldom used for applications below 45%RH as they tend to form ice on the coil also reducing the moisture removal capacity causing expensive replacements.
On the other hand, desiccant dehumidifiers are more economical than refrigeration based dehumidifiers at lower temperatures and lower moisture levels. Typically, a desiccant system is utilized for applications below 45%RH down to 1%RH.

The compressor dehumidifiers are really built for a warm ambient temperature, but the desiccant dehumidifiers will maintain a superior standard of performance in both warm and cold ambient temperatures.
Low noise levels:
Desiccant dehumidifiers are not built with a compressor, hence are generally quieter in operation.
Low energy consumption:
Compressor dehumidifiers consume less energy per hour and are thus generally cheaper to run.
Portability and durability
Desiccant dehumidifiers are comparatively durable due to their simpler mode of operation and are lighter in weight usually with handles given for easy portability.
